Welcome to My Classroom!
Lakewood Middle School
Woodland, MI
I teach eighth-grade ELA to about 120 students every year. My day is typically split up into five class periods, where I focus on preparing the students for high school by reading a variety of genres, writing multiple essays, practicing and learning grammar and vocabulary, and presenting research and writing to the class.
In my classroom,.........all students are respected and heard.
...students read, write, create, revise, and publish.
...my passion for Literature exudes and engages.
...we put our best effort into everything we do.
...there is a library of a thousand books for students to read.
...we challenge each other's opinions.
...we aren't afraid to make fools of ourselves.
...we prepare for success in high school and in life.
About My Students:My students are thirteen and fourteen years old. They strive for success and want to be prepared for high school. Many of my students love discussing different novels they have read and expressing their opinions on a variety of topics. They participate in a variety of clubs, sports, and activities and like to use their knowledge of those topics in the classroom. Many of my students do not come from the socioeconomic background that allows them to travel to places and environments that are different than the small villages they are from. Therefore, I try to provide exposure to those "other worlds" through literature.
